Title

Fourth-grade class, school no.32, Perm

Description

This photograph of the  Perm school no. 32 4th grade "a" class was most probably taken in 1956. The children in the photo are about 10 years old and might have just joined the Pioneer organization (Vladimir Lenin All-Union Pioneer organization), as all of them have red ties on and the girls are wearing the festive white pinafores. The class was rather large with 35 pupils, but it was not uncommon at the time as Soviet baby-boomers entered school. The woman in the center is the class teacher and the woman in the checkered dress is a pioneer troop leader. Stalin’s bust in the right corner is evidence of the remaining cult. First and last names of 26 pupils are written on the back of the photo, as well as the last name and initials of the class teacher and the name of the pioneer troop leader.
